A travelling exhibition visits the Federal City

The Federal Constitution of 1848 and the birth of modern Switzerland are currently being celebrated in Bern. "NEXPO - the new Expo" also takes part in the event. The initiative of Switzerland's ten largest cities for a new national exhibition shows, through a traveling exhibition, why our generation too is entitled to its own national exhibition. As the Mayor of Berne, Alec von Graffenried, Vice-President of NEXPO, said at the opening of the exhibition: "If we look back today to the beginnings of the Federal Constitution 175 years ago, and at the same time look ahead to the next national exhibition, there is a clear connecting line between past and future - namely, the question of how we want to live together as a community, as a nation".

Digging into the past to better think about the future

The question of Switzerland's future as a nation has been regularly addressed since the first national exhibition in 1883. NEXPO's touring exhibition is also dedicated to this topic. The six previous national exhibitions are presented on six cross-panels and in a video retrospective. Information is provided on the motto, focus, exhibition site and legacy of each Expo. In a second section, the latest initiatives for a future national exhibition are presented. In addition to "NEXPO - the new Expo", visitors can also take a look at the Svizra27, Muntagna and X27 projects. In a third section, the "Nexplorer live" invites to an interactive experience. Visitors to the exhibition can create their own personal value map in the shape of the Swiss cross.

The aim of the touring exhibition is to generate public understanding and enthusiasm for a future national exhibition. The exhibition will be on display on July 1 and 2, 2023, as part of the "175 Years of the Federal Constitution" celebrations, in the BEKB/BCBE entrance hall on the Bundesplatz. It will then be shown in Winterthur, St. Gallen and other cities.
