NEXPO gets a new member
01. Februar 2023,Glarus, the smallest cantonal capital in Switzerland, is now also a member of “NEXPO - the new Expo”. With this latest addition, 26 cities and municipalities in 18 cantons are now involved in the NEXPO project for the next national exhibition.
Glarus lies nestled between mountains at the foot of the Glärnisch. A lot of industry has taken root in the area. The nearby countryside offers a range of opportunities for hikers, mountaineers and cyclists. The addition of Glarus, with its rich history, is a great asset for “NEXPO - the new Expo”. As in every other member city and municipality, visitors to NEXPO will be able to engage in unique experiences on a theme related to coexistence in the 21st century.
NEXPO – a national exhibition like no other
The initiative led by the ten largest cities in Switzerland to stage a new national exhibition is called NEXPO because it is taking on a completely new form: it will be sustainable, future-oriented and decentralised. Never before has there been a national exhibition held throughout Switzerland. NEXPO is willing to take this step -
in cities, in the countryside and in the mountains. The artistic team is currently putting the finishing touches to its innovative concept, which links the various venues in German-speaking Switzerland, French-speaking Switzerland and Italian-speaking Switzerland. In just a few months, NEXPO will present its overall concept to the public for the first time.
NEXPO open for more member cities and partnerships
NEXPO now comprises – thanks to the latest addition – 26 cities and municipalities across 18 cantons. In addition to the founder cities of Basel, Berne, Biel, Geneva, Lausanne, Lugano, Lucerne, St. Gallen, Winterthur and Zurich, today Aarau, Chur, Frauenfeld, Fribourg, Grindelwald, La-Chaux-de-Fonds, Neuchâtel, Pontresina, Porrentruy, Saas-Fee, Schaffhausen, Sion, St. Moritz, Uster, Zug and now Glarus are also members of NEXPO. NEXPO is open to new members.
NEXPO can also facilitate a joint Expo candidacy. NEXPO has already agreed on a collaboration in the form of the X27 Project. NEXPO and X27 are now in discussion with other Expo initiatives. Merging the various projects is in line with the wishes of the Federal Council and the cantons.
