NEXPO moves on to the next phase, with seven more cities joining
20. März 2020, NEXPO TeamNEXPO will enter its next three-year foundation phase in September 2020. New partnerships with actors from the science and business sectors and from the civil society are a proof of the broad interest. Furthermore, NEXPO welcomes seven cities as new members of the association and is pleased with the response from all parts of the country.
Seven more cities join NEXPO
The cities of Aarau, Chur, Friborg, La Chaux-de-Fonds, Neuchâtel, Schaffhausen and Uster have become members of the “NEXPO - the new Expo” association since 3rd February 2020. The new affiliate members include five Canton capitals. The NEXPO network now consists of thirteen Cantons and all four linguistic regions of Switzerland. NEXPO has therefore taken a big step forward towards involving Switzerland as a whole. In the context of NEXPO, cities, urban centres and countryside areas will have to actively tackle the issues of coexistence in the 21st century and define together new points of reference for Switzerland.
Three-year foundation phase from September 2020
In the light of the positive feedback received from all parts of the country and of the very promising development of the preparatory work, from September 2020 the association “NEXPO – the new Expo” will take the project initiated by the cities of Basel, Bern, Biel, Geneva, Lausanne, Lugano, Lucerne, St. Gallen, Winterthur and Zurich into the foundation phase 2020–2022. This phase has the objective of developing existing and new NEXPO pilot projects, in collaboration with the general public, in order to further concretise the new national exhibition. At the same time, through an adjusted organisation structure, this foundation phase should prepare the project for the coming challenges, culminating with the new national exhibition in 2028.
