Our shared path into the future

What does a sustainable city that is pleasant to live in look like in the 21st century? What does it take to create such a city? What opportunities does digitalisation open up here? These are the type of key questions that need to be answered when looking to the future. Switzerland’s sustainability ultimately depends on whether it succeeds in addressing the challenges as a matter of priority and in developing solutions for the future through the intelligent use of digital, modern technologies and the connectivity of data and people.

The “Smart City Lab Basel” offers a space to do all this.

The lab is a unique innovation hub in Basel where numerous partners can develop, test and discuss smart applications aimed at sustainable zone and urban development. The lab is located on the Wolf site, which is currently undergoing development, and is operated jointly by the SBB as the landowner and the Canton of Basel-Stadt.
