About us
How it began
In 2016, the mayors of Basel, Bern, Biel/Bienne, Geneva, Lausanne, Lugano, Lucerne, St Gallen, Winterthur and Zurich came up with the idea for a new Expo over an espresso, and shortly afterwards commissioned a project outline. The vision of NEXPO, the first nationwide Swiss national exhibition, was born.
Convinced of NEXPO's social significance and its power, the ten cities founded the association "NEXPO – the new Expo" in 2018. Since then, the association has been working tirelessly to put in place a new expo in the 2030s.
Today, the following towns and municipalities are also members of NEXPO: Aarau, Chur, Fribourg, Glarus, La Chaux-de-Fonds, Lichtensteig, Neuchâtel, Pontresina, Saas-Fee, Schaffhausen, Sion, St Moritz, Uster and Zug.
NEXPO seeks to inspire and move people. It is being developed together with artists, businesses, non-profit organisations, universities and the public. A unique cooperation that makes possible a diversity never seen before.
